2016 Ram Truck Line Earns Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Honor

This morning, Ram brand issued a press proudly announcing that Popular Mechanics (PM) magazine has included the entire Ram Truck lineup in its annual Automotive Excellence Awards. The award recognizes Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 as offering the best combination of performance, value, and technology compared to all other pickups.

As part of the selection process, in addition to driving the vehicles, editors visited factories and interviewed engineers to get a better understand of what each model provides. PM called Ram Truck "the model to beat," and offered particular praise for the fact that Ram is the only pickup with a ZF-designed eight-speed automatic transmission.

"The objective for Ram is to build the best trucks in the market, and earning a spot in Popular Mechanics’ Automotive Excellence Awards is recognition of rapid innovation and exclusive features across Ram’s entire pickup line," said Mike Manley – Head of Ram Truck Brand, FCA Global. "The pickup truck segments are brutally competitive and Ram is committed to leadership with best-in-class titles, including America’s most fuel-efficient full-size pickup at 29 mpg, most towing capacity at 31,210 pounds and the most torque at 900 lb.-ft."

The Awards appear in the May issue of Popular Mechanics, on newsstands today.
